'Let it Grow' Update 2

Last friday, Ngaikiha and Adam helped Whaea Alice to carefully plant our lupin seedlings into the garden, next to Matua Ken's shed.

They must have done a great job because look what happened over weekend....

I wonder how big our lupins will get?

Goodbye Emma!

We will miss you!

Today was Emma's last day with Room 2 - how sad! It's been great having you in our class, we hope you enjoyed it too!
Emma is a responsible and onto-it member of room 2, she earned her 'R' badge in just 4 weeks!

Here are Emma and Tasneem doing their
'Word Work' during the daily five.

Thank you for your special card and gift....

We love The Lorax and we love the wrapping paper too!

We wish you a safe trip home to Japan and we hope to hear from you soon!

Planting a Seed

We are learning to write instructions.

This week we planted some lupin seeds.

First we had to think of a title and write a list of materials.

Then we planted the seeds, writing each step as we went:

Step 1: Put soil into the cup with a small shovel.

Step 2: Poke a small hole into the soil with your finger.

Step 3: Put the seed into the pot

Step 4: Water the seeds.

Watch this space... These seeds will need lots of water, sun and love to grow!

Olympic Success

Over the past 2 weeks, we have been following our Kiwi sports people at the London Olympics - celebrating the success of each of our medal winners. We have been thinking about what it takes to be as successful as these athletes, what do we need to do to get there and how it will make us feel if we were to achieve our goals just like them!

Footsteps for our Future

All this talk about success, has us thinking about our future. We made these cool footsteps to show what we want to do in our future and how we are going to get there.

Whaea Alice's first iMovie

This week, Room 2 hosted Whanau time. Well done to Hebe and Riley for welcoming everyone and thanking our special guests from Shirley Boys High School, who came to talk to us about how to prepare for your future.

As part of Hui, Whaea Alice showed her first ever iMovie. Here it is:

Our senior Richmond Reporter's do a great job every week! Keep it up - I know to be successful, I'll need lots more practice!
